Frequently Asked Questions

I have reviewed your product line and, frankly, I don’t see much difference between Duroweave and New Mol, other than the price. Can you better define the differences?

Good question. While both Duroweave and New Mol are knit from the same premium yarns, there is a distinct difference in the knitting pattern.

Duroweave is loosely knit, meaning that there is more space between the strands of yarn. This attribute, combined with the use of additional shrinking base yarn, results in a very pliable dampening cover, one which allows the fabric to shrink both across and around the roller surface. This makes Duroweave an ideal choice for duplicators where the fit is much less forgiving. The lack of shafts or journals on most small press rollers means that a cover must be pliant enough to conform and attach to it with minimal overhang.

Additionally, Duroweave’s pile height is a little taller than New Mol, an attribute which also benefits duplicators and small presses. Large presses usually have the luxury of larger diameter dampening rollers which results in slower rotation and more consistent water distribution. A duplicator’s rollers are usually disproportionally small, requiring faster rotation and less recovery time. The added wicking or absorption capacity of Duroweave’s taller pile height helps compensate for this limitation.

Now for New Mol: this product is a densely knit material, containing almost twice as much yarn per square inch (or centimeter) than Duroweave. This heavy-duty construction makes it an ideal choice for larger presses where the “wear and tear” factor can be considerably greater than that of a duplicator press. The pile height is also a little shorter than Duroweave, a factor that results from the type of knitting pattern we use. This lower pile lends itself to the the demands of larger, high speed presses.
