Mounting NEW MOL with Drawstrings

1.) New Mol is packaged inside-out with the pile or "printing" surface facing inward. The correct surface orientation is achieved during the mounting procedure.

Select the end of the cover pointed to by the arrows stamped on the cover and tuck about 2" (50mm) of the cover into itself as though you were turning the cover right side out. (SEE  FIGURE 1 BELOW)

Figure 1

Place this tucked-in portion of the cover over one end of the roller, pushing it down about 1 inch (25mm). (SEE FIGURE 2 BELOW)

Figure 2

As you pull the cover down the length of the roller, the cover will turn right side out. When finished there should be approximately equal amounts of cover extending beyond each roller end. If not, reverse the above procedure and remount, adjusting the length of material tucked into itself.

2.) Pull the drawstrings taut and knot them two or three times using a square knot. Carefully trim the excess string to within 1/4. (6mm) of the knot. A drop of Cyanoacrylate (Krazy) glue on the knots will keep them from coming loose.

3.) Saturate the entire cover with warm to hot water for about one minute. (Regarding the proper temperature, a general guide is that the water may be as hot as you can physically withstand, but no hotter. Cold water will also work but not as efficiently.) Remove excess water by rolling on a flat, clean surface, blotting with a towel, or stroking the roller with your clenched hand in the direction of the nap. Carefully dry and lubricate any bearings and/or bushings on the roller ends.

4.) Mount the roller(s) on the press. Adjust the cover-to-plate pressure according to the press manufacturer's specifications. Note that New Mol absorbs and retains more fountain solution than most dampening materials and may require less pressure and/or a lower water transfer setting than you are accustomed to using.
